This font was made using Donald Knuth’s font description language METAFONT, part of the high quality typesetting system TEX. At the time I had no access to a Thai computer font, so decided to build my own. I had already made a simple bitmap Thai font for my dot-matrix printer, so I thought I would go the extra step and make a full-featured, state-of-the-art computer font. It turned out to be a large project. Currently, I don’t use TEX much, and there are plenty of fonts available for all languages of the world. Still, it may prove interesting or instructive for people exploring the depths of the TEX system. This page was made in October 2021.

Files

Included in the download are the following files. Keep in mind that METAFONT provides a completely versatile description, only limited by the number of parameters given by the designer, and what they control. The same program can produce bold, italic, etc as well as variations in proportion, connection style etc, just by altering a few numbers.

Sample

These are taken from a book I wrote teaching the basics of Thai language.
